As October begins, Detroit and its neighboring communities are offering a wide array of activities, from fall festivals to spooky celebrations, designed for residents of all ages. Events are scheduled across various neighborhoods, providing opportunities for community engagement, learning, and festive fun.

Early in the month, community engagement takes center stage. On Friday, October 2, Rosedale Park residents are invited to a Detroit Public Schools Community District candidate forum at the Shrine of the Black Madonna Church. This free event provides an opportunity to hear from more than 30 candidates on the ballot and learn about their positions on important issues.

The first Saturday of October, October 3, features multiple outdoor and community-focused events. Rooted in Community Development Corporation hosts "Music in the Garden," offering jazz and house music, children's activities, snacks, and fresh vegetables. Also on Saturday, the Rouge Park Mountain Bike Ramble provides a beginner-friendly opportunity to explore bike trails with experienced riders, with bikes and helmets available. For gardeners, the Fall Native Plant Market at Keep Growing Detroit Farm, supported by Friends of the Rouge and local vendors, will offer trees, shrubs, plugs, and garden kits. A more spirited gathering, the MMMMonster Parade, encourages participants to dress in monster gear for a procession from Ride It Skatepark to Hamtramck Disneyland, with donations encouraged. Concluding the first week, on Monday, October 5, Detroit Heals Detroit hosts "A Seat for Tomorrow Supper Club," an intimate four-course dinner with guided conversation and healing, for individuals aged 16 and older on a sliding scale fee.
