Metro Detroit is experiencing a shift to much more comfortable early October weather, as cooler and drier air has settled into the region. Following a cold front Friday morning, the rain has cleared, and humidity levels are dropping across Southeast Michigan.

Friday afternoon saw temperatures around Detroit reaching the mid-60s. As high pressure builds into the Great Lakes, skies are expected to clear out Friday night, leading to a quick drop in temperatures after sunset. High school football games scheduled for Friday evening are forecast to remain dry. Fans attending games, such as around Romeo, can anticipate temperatures near 60 degrees at kickoff, falling into the mid-50s by halftime, and near 52 degrees by the drive home, suggesting an extra layer of clothing will be beneficial as the sun goes down. Overnight lows in Detroit are expected to be in the mid-40s, while some western and northern communities could see temperatures dip into the upper 30s and lower 40s, with Lapeer forecast near 38 degrees and Flint and Fowlerville around 40 degrees. Despite these chillier temperatures, frost is not expected across Metro Detroit, as surface moisture and temperatures are predicted to remain just warm enough to prevent it in most of Southeast Michigan.

Saturday is shaping up to be a quintessential early-October day, offering plenty of sunshine. Highs will be cooler than normal, mainly in the lower to mid-60s. Most of Metro Detroit is expected to reach approximately 62 to 64 degrees, including Detroit, Ann Arbor, Flint, Mt. Clemens, and Monroe, all forecast around 63 degrees. Light winds are anticipated, which should make the cooler temperatures feel pleasant in the sunshine. This weather is also favorable for outdoor events such as the Detroit Harvest Fest at Ralph C. Wilson, Jr. Centennial Park. Attendees might find sunglasses useful due to the mostly sunny skies, and a light jacket or sweatshirt is recommended, especially during the morning and evening hours.

Sunday will be the warmer and more seasonable day of the weekend, with highs rising to near 70 degrees across Metro Detroit. Mostly sunny skies are expected throughout the day. There is a low chance of a spotty shower late Saturday night into early Sunday morning, but the better chance of rain is expected to remain well north of Metro Detroit, closer to Saginaw Bay and the Thumb area. For the majority of Southeast Michigan, Sunday is forecast to stay dry.

Looking ahead to the start of the next week, another push of cooler air is expected to arrive on Monday. Highs will fall back into the lower 60s on both Monday and Tuesday. Nighttime temperatures will dip into the 30s and lower 40s in some areas, with Tuesday morning potentially offering a better opportunity for lows in the 30s, though many locations may remain closer to 40 degrees. The weather pattern is expected to remain largely dry early next week before temperatures begin to moderate again, climbing back into the upper 60s by Wednesday and reaching around 70 degrees by Thursday. While conditions look quiet locally, the Lions' Sunday night game in Charlotte may encounter wetter conditions, with possible rain and thunderstorms and game-time temperatures in the lower to mid-60s.
